Mary Kay is proud to sponsor the 'Inspiring Star‘ program. ‘Inspiring Star’ is a charity program organized to raise funds for the purpose help with operating costs at NASOM Center. In addition, this program can also provide an opportunity to Autism children and other participants to highlight talent and improve social skills among them. Through this program also, the NASOM expects awareness and acceptance. The community of people with this autism will be more widespread. This is because they are should be given the opportunity to be together in mixed groups of people giving them space to do social activities like recreation and so on.
Mary Kay is proud to sponsor the Play and Learn center (PAL) Suriana Welfare by donating RM 20,000 to refurbish the center. PAL Center is a venue that creates a safe place for underprivileged children after school as many of their mothers are holding more than two jobs and are not home to supervise these children. The center operates from Mon-Sat from 2pm to 7pm. Toys, games and plays are carefully selected to teach children between ages 5-13 years old vital skills as well as to target specific areas of development. Here, the children learn how to communicate with one another, develop friendship thus leading to a sense of belonging. Most importantly, they are in a safe, healthy environment and are involved in wholesome activities.
Mary Kay Malaysia is spreading autism awareness through its partnership with the National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM) by raising funds to support NASOM’s school operations and utilities cost. In conjunction with the effort, the renowned beauty brand organized a 3km Love and Beauty Run at Taman Metropolitan Batu, Sentul with over 1,500 participants to support Mary Kay Malaysia’s efforts to spread the awareness and acceptance towards the autism community. Mary Kay Malaysia has raised over RM50,000 through the sale of its “Eau So Cute” fragrance over a period of 1 month, with RM5 from each sale contributing to the fund.
“For more than 50 years Mary Kay has always been committed to enriching the lives of women and children around the world. Mary Kay products serve a greater purpose through dedicating a portion of our sales to worthy causes. For the ‘Love and Beauty Run for NASOM’ initiative, we hope to bring attention to the autism community and make a difference to those in need,” said Khor Lee Fan, General Manager of Mary Kay Malaysia.
The Love and Beauty Run for NASOM was an exceedingly fruitful charity run participated by the young and old. Prior to the flag off, runners and supporters joined in an energy-filled Zumba session led by the NASOM children. Making the event merrier, the crowd enjoyed an interactive session such as ‘Fun Color with Mary Kay at Play®’ where members of the public were able to do face painting and hair coloring. Apart from that, they were able to test out some of Mary Kay products for free.
After the run, speeches were given by Mary Kay’s General Manager, Khor Lee Fan and NASOM’s Chairwoman, Feilina S.Y Muhammad Feisol followed by a presentation ceremony of the official cheque amounted RM50,000 from Mary Kay to NASOM. There was also a prize presentation to 5 children that won the drawing contest and 10 lucky draw winners that walked away with grand prizes from 100 draws.
Mary Kay in partnership with National Cancer Society of Malaysia purchased a portable breast examination device to screen 1,000 underprivileged women. This device is a wireless handheld device that can detect tumor tissue in quick and painless way with the aim to reach out to women in remote areas which lack of proper facilities or healthcare access. It was through the support of Mary Kay Beauty Consultants and customers that we can raise a total of RM 35,000 to National Cancer Society in purchasing this device.
Mary Kay sees the importance of raising awareness on breast cancer through early detection, and education not only to our Mary Kay beauty consultants but to all the women out there.
Globally, The Mary Kay Foundation raises and distributes funds to invest in breakthrough cancer research to find a cure for women-related cancers.
